“Mori Instinct Stage” is located in Sakurazaka, a quiet residential area.
Noh is one of the representative Noh plays of Japanese classical theater which was established in the Muromachi period in the medieval period by Kanami (weasel) and Zeami (Kanami). In particular, during the Tokugawa Shogunate, it was loved as an entertainment for the exclusive use of samurai families, and has continued to be refined and inherited through its 600 year history. Tetsuro Morimoto, a shite-kata (main roles) Noh actor of the Kanze school and the general holder of Important Intangible Cultural Property, teaches this valuable Noh experience lesson. You can not only watch Noh but also experience the world of Noh on the stage.
The Mori Honno Stage was built in February 1965 and can accommodate 220 people. Inside the facility, there is a Japanese style space that can be used for practicing on a stage or tea ceremony, and a lobby that can be used for events, and as the name suggests, there is a large mirror in the “between mirrors” which is used as a room where Noh performers wait after wearing costumes to calm down. The facility, which has been loved as a stage for Noh, has recently been used in a wide range of areas, including traditional Japanese music, rakugo (traditional comic storytelling), drama and wedding ceremonies.
