A guide will take you through the streets of Yamaga, a city that prospered thanks to rice

The Kumamoto Kikuchi River basin in Kyushu has long been a production area of high-quality rice, where the harvested rice was transported by boat. The Somon district, where Buzen Kaido street and the Kikuchi River meet, still retains a charming streetscape.

This tour will take you to spots related to rice in Yamaga, such as a 190-year-old malted rice shop, a sake brewery in business since the Meiji era, a hand-baked rice cracker shop, and a Buddhist temple. Travel back in time as you walk through this exciting city!

Hours: The meeting time is at 10:00, 11:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00

Time required: Approx. 1 hour.

Target age: Junior high school students and older (13 years old～)

Clothing / belongings: We suggest you to wear clothes and shoes that are comfortable for walking.
