This is a detached inn located at the foot of Mt. Yufu “Muryoto (uneven)”. The name Muryoto (uneven) originated from the Buddhist term “insignificant” which means “an infinite number that cannot be measured”. The guest rooms are centered on old houses that were relocated from various parts of Japan, and you can feel the sound of birds, trees, and the tranquil air of the mountains. All of the rooms are full of limitless richness.
The concept of the inn is “Regeneration of old houses”. There are 6 old houses with 8 rooms and 2 modern detached houses with 4 rooms that were newly built in 2004. The rooms of 1 building and 1 building are all different and all rooms have a bath. The hot spring is attached to each building, and you can relax and enjoy the hot water in the private space of the indoor bath. The spacious bathroom has a sense of openness, and you can enjoy the comfort of the sunlight coming in through the window like an open-air bath. The guest rooms with old and new Japanese and Western furniture and artworks are all calm and create a luxurious time.
Each of the old houses relocated from various parts of Japan has its own name, and each room is unique. The detached house “Meiji period”, which was relocated from Niigata Prefecture in the northern part of the Sea of Japan side, is characterized by its construction unique to cold regions. The room has a fireplace “Irori fireplace” that used to be in an ancient Japanese house. The zelkova pillars everywhere give it a dignified presence, but it is a room where you can feel the warmth of the wood. The “Fuji (peach)” reproduces a 100 year old house that was relocated from Shiga Prefecture in the Kansai region. The wooden ceiling and the machiya-styled doors give it a nostalgic and classic feel. The Italian tiled bath was tasteful, and you can feel an exotic atmosphere. In the living room with impressive walnut lattice doors, the guest rooms “Kumi (SQUEEZE)” with antique tables from Northern Europe have small Ryukyu tatami mats in the back. You can enjoy mountain village dishes made with seasonal ingredients from Yufuin. The popular menu items are the local chicken hot pot stewed in the homemade soup and the moromi miso mixed with 5 kinds of aromatic vegetables.
